Common questions
FAQDo I need planning permission for air conditioning?
In most cases no planning permission is needed for a domestic installation in the UK. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats can be different, so we check this during the survey and advise you.
Can air conditioning heat my home in winter?
Yes. Modern air conditioning units are air-to-air heat pumps, so the same unit that cools in summer heats efficiently in winter.
What is F-Gas certification and why does it matter?
Anyone who handles refrigerants in air conditioning and heat pump systems must be F-Gas certified by law. It means the system is installed, pressure tested and commissioned safely and correctly. Whyte Services is F-Gas certified and on the REFCOM register.
What brands do you install?
We specialise in Samsung air conditioning, including WindFree wall units, concealed ducted systems and DVM S VRF. We are trained across other major brands and will always recommend what suits the property.
How long does an installation take?
Most single-room installs are completed in a day, often within the morning. Multi-room and commercial systems depend on access and pipe routes; we give you a clear timeline with the quote.
Do you work with businesses?
Yes. We design, install and maintain systems for offices, shops, restaurants, pubs, hotels, short-let rooms and comms rooms, and we can install out of hours to avoid disruption.
Do you offer servicing and maintenance?
Yes. We offer annual and twice-yearly servicing plans, F-Gas leak checks and repairs for homes and businesses.
